Beardshear Hall Remodeling - Ames, Iowa
Beardshear Hall is a classical structure designed by Proudfoot and Bird, a predecessor firm to Brooks Borg Skiles Architecture Engineering. Built in 1906, the building is a prominent campus landmark housing university administrative offices throughout its history.

The primary focus of the 40,700 SF renovation reallocates space to develop a Student Answer Center on the Ground Level. Other project objectives are the reallocation of office space and addressing life safety, building code, accessibility and deferred maintenance deficiencies.

The outstanding classical architecture was preserved while sensitively incorporating contemporary spaces and technology, maintaining a consistent open and light environment, and improving wayfinding. In the existing central atrium, period finishes, lighting, skylights, and a new elevator enhance the value of the facility.
