VRAC C6 and Office Suite - Ames, Iowa
The Virtual Reality Applications Center (VRAC) C6 installation is a fully immersive synthetic environment (SE) featuring six-sided rear-projection display, the first in North America. This SE environment accommodates real and virtual objects in the same space so that several individuals have an unobstructed view of their interactions with the objects. The C6 is located in the center of an open atrium in Howe Hall. An elliptical cone houses the SE device while maintaining a minimal footprint on the atrium floor.
In addition to the SE device, the office suite comprises 21,000 net square feet of Howe Hall. The suite contains faculty offices, conferencing, interaction spaces, computer labs, and an electronic/ mechanical fabrication shop for the state-of-the-art, nationally recognized computer imaging department.
