University Village - Building 200 Addition - Ames, Iowa
Brooks Borg Skiles is designing this addition to a maintenance facility to house office space, staff break areas, and storage for maintenance supplies for the Department of Residence. Design services are provided under an Ad Hoc Services agreement with the University.
Design goals include satisfying space needs deficiencies and increasing operational efficiencies, while establishing a visual identity for the addition and maintaining compatibility with the existing maintenance building. The design utilizes brick and roof shapes influenced by the adjacent existing apartment buildings. Sustainability objectives are met with the use of daylighting in public and employee areas, LED lighting, and providing systems and finishes that the ISU staff can easily maintain and replace.
